About the Project
The Restigouche CBDC is collaborating with Canadian manufacturing-sector employers, colleges, and others, to develop a solution to labour and skills shortages in the workplace. The objective of this new project is to design, implement and pilot a sustainable workplace training solution online to help improve the shortages faced by businesses in the manufacturing industry.
Your Essential Skills Training Solution
Skills in Action is an advanced online portal with a suite of Essential Skills training programs designed to enhance the skill sets of Canadian frontline workers. Included in this innovative online platform is a suite of integrated workplace training management tools that links human capital development needs to performance objectives.
Essential Skills Training Workshops
Skills in Action is host to six Essential Skills training programs totalling more than 60 hours of online interactive training designed to help Canadian manufacturing businesses upgrade their workers’ Essential Skills and prepare them to learn and acquire new skills.
Built-in Online Training Management Applications and Features
In addition to offering a suite of Essential Skills training activities, the Skills in Action portal includes a platform that delivers a personalized learning experience tailored to workers’ current needs and companies’ performance goals. This platform includes two key applications:
Learner
Using the Learner application, workers can connect to the portal, review their training plans and access various assessments and employer-assigned training activities. In addition to providing a visual representation of learners’ progress, the application displays the details of current and future activities, including a link to the training, the schedule and the start/end dates.
Manager
The Manager application helps companies to assess workers’ needs, as well as to assign and manage training activities, track progress and measure the impact of workers’ learning on performance indicators. The Manager application includes three key management tools.
Pilot Testing (Postponed until further notice)
The online training will be piloted within Canadian manufacturing businesses and involve their workers and other training sites with individuals seeking employment in the manufacturing sector.
